The monster of fearfulness, a monster that feeds on our adrenaline

The monster of fearfulness is a monster that feeds on our adrenaline, since adrenaline is a substance that our body emits when it realizes that there is a danger in its environment and it wants to prepare us for possibly having to protect ourselves .

Fear can be triggered by the sight of a lion or a snake, something that is very unlikely and no longer entirely appropriate in the world we live in today. However, if we suddenly slip on the stairs or if oil splashes out of the pan while we are cooking dinner, adrenaline is also released.

At that moment, we are given an adrenaline rush, which helps us to quickly claw at the banister or to quickly move away from the heat in which we are frying an egg. That is, our adrenaline is expelled to help us act fast enough to prevent worse from happening.

But at the same moment that adrenaline is released, the monster of fearfulness is awakened from its lethargy by the smell of its food. In the beginning, it is also part of this protective instinct, and helps us to hold on to the railing or to manage to keep our balance before we fall down the stairs.

But even if it is a simple, everyday situation if we slip on the stairs, it can happen that the monster of fearfulness wakes up and does not fall asleep again. Then it stays inside of us and feeds on the adrenaline that we have expelled, while at the same time we hear our heart beating strongly and the shock goes into our bones.

Whenever the monster gets new adrenaline to eat, we feel it again inside us. However, when we are no longer in a dangerous situation, the monster, knowing full well that its adrenaline reserves are running out, will fall into hibernation.

Persecution fear

This psychological battle leads to the fact that our body fires a new rush of adrenaline, only that this time no real dangerous situation is responsible for this, but that it is triggered by the monster who is very happy to get new food again.

As a result  , the monster of fearfulness becomes huge and extremely aggressive because of the oversupply of adrenaline. It screams menacingly at us that it will freeze our hearts, that it will dry out our throats, and that it will devour our brains.

Although it cannot do this at all, it threatens us with an ever louder voice, because it knows that we will hear it better this way and that it will get even more emotional nourishment, even more adrenaline. So it begins to determine our everyday life, with an insatiable hunger that we submissively satisfy when it only reports.

But if we don’t listen to it and see its screams as normal, if we stop paying our attention to it and it doesn’t get any more adrenaline from our body, then in the end the monster of anxiety will have no other option but to get away with it to put you into a gentle sleep and lose your size again.

The monster of fear can only frighten our bodies. As we can see, it represents a natural way of our body to behave towards what is perceived by our body or mind as an imminent danger.

It is a simple and normal mechanism that we can all understand. If it has already become a giant monster and it doesn’t seem to show any signs of falling asleep again in the future, then we must remember that it is up to us to make it smaller and less important again, if only we can see its presence accept and tolerate even when we are experiencing a natural situation of fear.
