Is It Bad To Think Too Much?

“Am I thinking too much?” – Have you ever asked yourself this question? If you nod now, then you are right, you think too much. But don’t be concerned, me too. Basically almost all of us. The problem we are trying to solve today is: is it good to think too much?

Thinking about something over and over again often leads us to melancholy. It leads to obsessions, phobias, depression and ultimately feelings and passions that sometimes prevent us from doing anything we want to do. Imagine our question is a seed. This question grows, it gets bigger and bigger, it sprouts, develops twigs and branches until it grows into a loop that can only be broken if we stop thinking about it. Failure to do this is very stressful on our minds and can sometimes cause headaches or migraines.

Aside from being tiring for us, there is other inconvenience from thinking too much. Have you ever stopped doing something because you spent too much time thinking about it? Have you ever thought about what you would have shared with someone if you had the time to think about it? Trains stop and go, and you could end up missing them.

As we all know, the next train will come at some point if we stop at the platform and wait. But we can’t make the same mistake over and over again. If you don’t do anything about the doubts that invade you and take over your mind, it is very likely that you will do the exact same thing again next time. And opportunities have no set timetable, like the train station. We don’t know when the next opportunity will come.

Every poison has an antidote. Voltaire said: “ A collection of thoughts must be a pharmacy where the cure for all wounds can be found. “As you know, the antidote is made from poison. If we dose it inaccurately and overdo it, we won’t get any better. In fact, the opposite will happen.

If we want to avoid this, we can. For example, we can do other things, distance ourselves from the thoughts that haunt us : doing sports, listening to music, going to the cinema.

Finally, I offer you a wonderful method: meditation. Contrary to what the western world seems to believe, meditating is not just about sitting down and then thinking and thinking. On the contrary, meditating means not thinking about anything, letting the mind completely free, like a blank sheet of paper. Let your thoughts guide you, but don’t let them control you.

We are the owners of our life and we should use it as best we can. Not only do we benefit from eliminating negative thoughts, so do our friends, acquaintances, and close family members. If you know more methods to avoid negative and irrational thoughts, let us know!
